Stokvis strengthens position in Eastern Europe

9 November 2005

Netherlands based tape converting group Stokvis has acquired the Promi branches in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for an undisclosed sum. The move gives Stokvis a presence in four Eastern European countries: the others are Hungary, Poland.

Promi is the largest independent distributor of self adhesive tapes in both countries. It offers a wide range of products, which can be tailored to customer requirements. To facilitate this, it has its own machinery for cutting, laminating and punching. The company is certified to ISO 9001 and the TS 16949 quality system. The take-over will have no consequences for its 46 employees.

This is the third European take-over by Stokvis this year, following Fixtrade, in Finland, and SHD, in France. The group wants to become a world player in self adhesive tapes. Until recently, it operated exclusively on the European market, with branches in 13 countries. Shanghai was added in 2004, as the first Asian branch.

Stokvis says it also expects to be operating in such growth markets as India and Mexico "within the foreseeable future".
