Static stopped

28 May 2003

Stationery supplier Whitegrove, at Eastleigh, UK, had been experiencing major problems with static on its two colour Heidelberg press. Although static elimination equipment had been fitted, it was not solving the problems that were occurring particularly with 80 and 100g normal bond papers. When printing these weights the static was so severe that the machine would not deliver the paper after it was printed, causing the machine to jam.

Meech static elimination bars fitted to the machine are said to have had an "absolutely dramatic effect" in solving the problem.
