St Ives site stands out

30 July 2003

Significant recent investments by the St Ives Group at its Blackburn, UK, plant are said to have made it one of Europe's most sophisticated sites for the production of printing and packaging for the multimedia, CD and music industries. The expansion has included a move to a new 24,000f2t premises, plus additional prepress equipment and the commissioning of a Lithrone 40SP perfector from Komori.

"We've changed our working methods from conventional analogue to digital in around 18 months," says general manager Jim McKie. "During this period we've also moved our entire production facilities and staff to new premises and installed some major items of equipment. However, we've achieved all of this without interrupting services to our customers, and with the commissioning of the 40SP we're able to provide an even faster turnaround of top quality work."

The Blackburn factory, which now employs 95 people, has been taking on additional staff during the past year and is looking to increase this further.
