SRC slitting special

20 February 2007

The 710 centre surface slitter recently supplied by SRC Systems to a customer in Germany incorporates a remote mounted shaftless unwind that features ‘constant gap control’ The web length from the unwind reel to the first path roller is maintained and as the reel reduces in diameter, so the unwind reel automatically raises. This is said to eliminate any crease forming during the unwinding process.

The machine’s rotary shear slitting section is based on a pneumatically operated ‘slide draw’ facility that allows a spare lightweight slitting system to be removed and replaced with a second unit already prepared with the new slit pattern. The range of materials to be handled includes papers, films, laminates and aluminium foils, and the duplex centre surface rewind technique is said to ensure excellent rewind profiles on slit widths down to 30mm on 76mm cores. Air shaft or air differential shafts can be used

The rewind reel off-load system is based on a "cantilevered" duplex arrangement with end support arms which are pneumatcally lowered at the time of reel removal. A motorized off-load trolley locates by rails on the ends of the rewind shafts and another motorized system pushes the finished reels onto the trolley. The trolley is then removed, and will turn 180 degrees and lower the reels to a pallet or floor position.
