The new Smart Laminator-Die Cut System from Spartanics is said to allow converters and printers of expensive plastics core stocks or other high priced laminate films to cut material waste costs significantly. The system’s machine intelligence is claimed to “tightly synchronize” roll lamination and die cutting operations, eliminating the typical causes of stock and laminate production waste.
According to Spartanics, smart sensors in the system provide several production line advantages - eliminating waste of core sheets and overlaminate, and minimizing downtime from laminator fault conditions. The equipment also requires only a single lightly trained operator.
“Cutting material waste costs is often one of the best ways to boost the bottom line for the growing number of converters that are using expensive overlaminate materials and high priced substrates, comments Spartanics president Tom O’Hara. “Now we have taken our optically registered die cutting technology that provides unsurpassed registration precision accuracy and married it to smart controls for laminator and sheet feeder inputs to the die cut system.
“Because the Smart system can be operated by one single lightly trained operator, it also helps converters cut labour costs or redeploy workers to other production line duties.”
