Spanish suppliers at drupa

Amec Envasgraf, the Spanish association of packaging, flexo, graphic arts, paper and board converting machine manufacturers, was present at drupa 2004 with a stand giving support to the 14 Spanish companies exhibiting at the show.

Comexi revealed its latest developments in flexo printing. The range includes CI presses with six, eight and 10 colours, in widths of 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160cm. Also offered are solvent and solventless laminators, as well as slitter rewinders. Cumema presented its paper cutting knifes for all kind of guillotines, and three knife trimmer systems in four qualities. The company says it received over 400 visitors from 80 different countries.

Imer's range of machines for the manufacture of business forms, direct mail, A4 sheets, leaflets, self adhesive labels, packaging and special applications were all present at the show. Comercial Plastic, specialist in lamination machines, presented a new semi automatic thermal laminator for the 50x70cm format, featuring an integrated sheet separator. The company clocked up sales totalling €100,000 during drupa and expects to increase this figure considerably due to the number of contacts made at the exhibition.

Inframik showed its Vesta and Xtra series for the handling of a wide range of carton designs at high production speed. Protner, under its Wali brand, is currently exporting more than 50 per cent of their production. Its converting machinery for disposable paper and textile products caters the needs of clients such as Kimberly-Clark, SCA or Duni. Laminating equipment specialist Tauler has increased its flexibility and production capacity thanks to its new manufacturing centre near Barcelona.

Queralt has introduced technical improvements to increase the versatility and simplicity in operating its folding box gluing machines. Rotatek has developed narrow web offset, flexo and combination presses of modular construction to permit the integration of in-line converting processes and business forms printing machines. The company has confirmed sales in Germany, India and the Middle East during drupa. The Combi, a combined offset-flexo rotary press for label and packaging printing, is said to have aroused great interest amongst visitors. The Zacares Numeradores stand was visited by people from over 100 countries. It introduced a special numbering system for small tickets, a new inkjet system, and a camera control systems.

Other Spanish exhibitors were: Talleres Lemu, designer of automatic slitter rewinders with roll finishing lines for the paper converting industry, to produce cash register rolls and plotter rolls; Pasaban, specialist manufacturer of finishing and converting machinery for the paper and board industry; TMZ, offering automatic and hand-fed die cutters for corrugated board, laminates and paper; and Giave, who exhibited its printing and converting machinery for flexible packaging.

Amec Envasgraf says the participation in drupa was a great opportunity to promote the Spanish equipment, "which is very competitive at the moment both in quality and price".
