13 March 2007

Czech Republic based Soma Engineering has supplied its first full turnkey printing and converting line in Japan. Supplied through Heidelberg, Soma’s distributor in the region, the line will use water based inks to produce food packaging. The eight colour installation includes an 800mm wide Flex Midi CI flexo press for water based inks, a Lamiflex S 850 laminating machine, a Venus II slitter rewinder and a Flexmont 850 S mounting and proofing press.

Petr Blasko, Soma sales manager explains; “This is our first installation of its kind in Japan and also a first for the customer, who is an offset printer. The line will enable it to enter new markets and to print and convert packaging materials such as film sleeves for vegetables, meat and grains, as well as films for medical, sanitary and hygiene uses.
