Solventless laminator for Mercury

22 August 2011

To meet increasing demand from the food industry for high quality printed films and bags and pouches flexible packaging specialist Mercury Packaging has installed a state-of-the-art Uteco Eclipse solventless digital laminator at its Kirkby-in-Ashfield plant in the UK.

The environmentally friendly and compact Eclipse, which will complement Mercury’s 8-colour Uteco Onyx gearless flexo press, will enable the company to offer printing, lamination and slitting, all under one roof, and help strengthen its position in the food industry, particularly the snack and dried food, tea and coffee and confectionery sectors.

The laminator has a maximum web width of 1,300mm and can handle materials such as polyester, PE, PP and metallised films. It features on-machine quick change of the roller sleeve; efficient exhaust of residual coating vapours; easy access for cleaning and maintenance; energy saving; and an operator touchscreen control panel with colour graphics.
