Snack growth means new Martin case maker for TRM

13 October 2005

TRM Packaging, of Burscough, UK, has installed a Martin 1228 flexo folder gluer in response to increased demand from the snack industry. With its four colour printing and die cutting facilities, the Martin line is designed to make big boxes on a large scale - close to one million cases per week.

TRM manufactures the complete range of conventional corrugated products, boxes, fitments, flat and pre-glued trays in E, B and C flute, and double wall combinations.

The Martin FFG 1228 is a complete converting line for medium and large format boxes. The four bottom printing flexo units utilize a vacuum transfer system to ensure excellent register and protection from board crush. At TRM, the 1228 replaces a Martin FFG 1330, the pre-feeder and palletizer of which were left in-line and the new machine carefully installed between them.

The FFG 1228 runs at up to 15,000 boxes/hour and handles sheets from 330mm x 725mm up to 1,500mm x 2,900mm. Maximum board thickness is 10mm.
