Slit edge quality improved

25 July 2008

Latest patented development from Dienes Werke is the Twin Cut fully automatic slitting system, with a set of identical knives top and bottom that employ “non-compression” technology to process paper, film, foil and non-wovens.

The new system can be used for different slit widths and speeds between 0-2,500 m/min. The control panel has been designed to be extremely user friendly, allowing the operator to create slitting program sequences, without the need for any EDP knowledge.

The new concept of operating two driven knives in a “non-compression” mode is said to result in an improvement of the slit edge quality, especially in multi-layer slitting applications (up to eight layers). Automatic slit width adjustments, which are realized by positioning the top and the bottom knives, are said to guarantee precision and high accuracy slit width. A typical format change can be achieved in less than a minute and without stopping the web, says Dienes.

Further advantages claimed include: reduced scrap due to in-line format changes; automatic, high precision zero point adjustments for each knife; automatic knife overlap adjustments for the top and bottom knives; and constant monitored and adjusted side load forces.
