Siegwerk series tailored for UV coating

6 April 2006

Siegwerk Group is to bring a series of conventional inks and UV varnish to the market later this year Converting Today learned at IPEX. Designated Tempo Flash the special, but conventional four colour series and uv varnish is designed to be used together for in line work. "It has been in beta testing all round Europe and will be launched this September," revealed director of business, sheet-fed and litho at Siegwerk Ink Packaging Robert Kinkead.

Claiming that it will be a real alternative to hybrid systems he continued: "Currently carton printers are using UV inks and UV varnish or water based varnish with conventional inks." The latter does not provide a high degree of gloss, he added. Carton sheet samples printed and varnished with Tempo Flash showed an impressive gloss, but levels attainable were not revealed during the exhibition. "All the press manufacturers are showing interest," he said.

"After the acquisition of the packaging ink business of SICPA in September 2005, Ipex is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how we have managed to successfully integrate our companies," said Gilles Faure, head of marketing plastic, paper and label.
