Sheeter suits sensitive material

16 November 2011

US-based Maxson’s new MSP sheeter enables converters of sensitive materials such as coated grades or carbonless paper to precision sheet press-ready piles at high speeds.

The MSP has the capacity to convert lightweight coated grades as low as 55g/m² up to 1,625mm wide and cut-offs between 381-1,651mm long.

The ability to run at higher speeds is attributable to advances in the design of the overlap delivery system, the company says. A driven overlap carriage with variable positioned soft stop rings matches the rate of the slow speed tape section to decelerate sheets by speed and not nip pressure - avoiding damage to the carbonless paper capsules. Soft textured conveyor belts avoid burnishing the surface of the paper clips, eliminating tape marks.

Capable of stacking loads up to 2,270kg, the new sheeter can be outfitted with as many as five shaftless rollstands and an overhead web carrier to keep the incoming webs separated, preventing wrinkles caused by gathering of the material.
