Schlumpf's new CTL-Series pneumatic winding shafts are claimed to offer "the value and performance of a quality shaft, at the price of an economy product". They are currently available for core diameters of 70mm and 75-76.2mm and are designed for high load and torque capacity.
The CTL-Series has a number of features to optimize uptime and minimize downtime. For example, the standardized lug-type expansion segments made from high strength polyamide can be replaced easily and quickly from the outside without the operator having to disassemble the shaft. Lightweight but rigid segment carriers that encase the rubber bladder completely are said to eliminate performance losses due to a ballooning bladder. The force of 6 bar (84psi) compressed air is transformed without loss into load and torque capacity, ensuring fail-free high performance, states Schlumpf.
Another innovation is the Quick-Clip clamping system, which is said to guarantee a durable, tight and fail-safe clamping of the air bladder.
The new shafts can be supplied with either aluminium or steel bodies, depending on actual load requirements.
