Second SHM at SureCut

18 June 2009

Canadian contract sheeting company SureCut Converting has installed an SHM 1450 DR (dual rotary) folio-size sheeter from Pemco. The company now has two of the 1450 DR machines in its Oakville, Ontario, facility.

SureCut services North American paper mills, paper wholesalers and retailers and the large sheeting requirements of the printing market. A speciality is high quality, precision sheeting on a quick turnaround basis. The company sheets a wide variety of substrates ranging from lightweight fine paper up to 625-650 g/m² boxboard.

The new SHM 1450 DR will cut any web up to 144.8 cm wide with a claimed tolerance of +/- 0.381 mm. With a knife load for the cross cutting head of up to 1,000 g/m2 and 600 g/m2 at the slitter stations, the dual rotary system is claimed to be capable of handling “significantly more capacity with a much greater accuracy” than a single rotary system. The cross-cut knife system is a state-of-the-art 'synchro' cutting head offering top quality cutting and a high profile speed curve.

SureCut has the option of working with three shaftless unwind back stands, enabling its new sheeter to run three webs at a time. In addition, the machine has been fitted with a fully automated stacker that supplies press-ready pallets of sheeted product. It also has a non-stop pallet change system.
