UK flexo plate supplier PPP Digital Imaging claims its new ITR (In the Round) digitally imaged continuous photopolymer sleeves will expand the possibilities of the flexo process, enabling it to deliver the best results for flexible packaging, labels and tissue production.
The ITR technology is said to offer speed, improved quality, accuracy and higher press utlisation. Press speeds are up to 15 per cent faster, the company states, due to improved balance and elimination of mounting tape. Impression weight is lower than flat plates, due to improved ink transfer and the uniformity of plate height, leading to lower dot gain and improved uniformity across the web.
Mounting tape is replaced by a press adapter, available with different levels of compressibility. Conventional pate mounting is also eliminated, resulting in ‘an outstanding level of register accuracy between colours’.
PPP says these benefits lead to faster makeready times and less material waste. Most importantly, press utilisation is improved, allowing printers to gain more from their highest value asset.
The company promises to deliver the highest quality seamless photopolymer sleeves on fast turnaround of orders.
