Screen moves into flexo

11 April 2006

With the launch of the PlateRite FX870 at IPEX, Screen has made its first move into the flexo market. The FX870 is a thermal CTP system capable of imaging digital flexo plates up to 870 x 735mm. It is aimed at a wide range of flexo applications including labels, flexible packaging, corrugated, carton and security printing.

The new system uses Screen's proven thermal laser technology to image advanced DuPont Cyrel and Asahikasei digital flexo plates – at either 2400 or 2,540dpi resolutions with screen rulings up to 200 lpi. It is compatible with the company's PackStudio SE packaging workflow, which is based on Artwork Systems ArtPro software, and can also be integrated with any other PDF based workflow.

Brian Forsdike, president of Screen Europe, stated: "We are committed to providing a wide range of imaging, workflow and peripheral solutions specially developed for the packaging market. The PlateRite FX870 is just the first in a series of developments which we will announce over the next few months."

The new system will be commercially available worldwide from this September.
