Screen CTP premiere at SB

4 May 2006

French printing company SB + Imprimerie, in Aulnay-sous-Bois, is the world's first user of the Screen PlateRite Ultima 24000 VLF CTP system, which was launched at IPEX, last month. Supplied by Screen France and FujiFilm France, it will produce plates for high volume packaging, large format 120 x 160 posters, and a wide range of commercial applications.

The PlateRite Ultima 24000 caters for both sheet-fed and web presses and images a maximum format plate of 1,750mm x 1,400mm at 29 plates/hour, complete with in-line punching. In addition, the ability to image two B1 plates is said to make it the fastest B1 platesetter in the world - and ideal to support multi colour perfecting presses. At 58 B1 plates an hour, a full set of B1 punched plates can be produced for a 12-unit press in just 15min, according to Screen.

The new system is already in production at SB + Imprimerie, driven by a TrueFlow DTC connected to a Rampage 1-bit TIFF workflow and imaging LHPI and LHPJE plates for two Planeta and four Heidelberg Speedmaster presses.
