UK manufacturer of technical adhesive tapes and compounds Scapa has opened its newly modernized premises in Dunstable. The £8.5M European 'centre of excellence' for medical products houses state-of-the-art medical cleanroom, coating equipment and research facilities for developing and manufacturing professional and consumer wound care products.
New coating and converting machinery has also been installed for both single and double-sided foam tapes for the automotive, building and construction, and other manufacturing industries.
Over the past three years, Scapa has invested £17M in its UK operations. Earlier this year, the company also opened its new "world class centre of excellence" in Ashton-under-Lyne, where a number of key product ranges are manufactured. Among these are the Megolon halogen-free fire retardant, low smoke cable compounds, Megotape cable wrapping tapes, self amalgamating tapes, and adhesive cloth tapes.
