SCA scoops Stabernack

27 August 2002

Sweden's SCA group has acquired the family owned German packaging company V+D Stabernack for about €131M.

Stabernack manufactures printed corrugated board packaging and point-of-sale displays. Its customers include Henkel, Kraft, Nestlé and Nokia. The company has some 1,350 employees in four integrated corrugated box plants in Germany, plus six independent conversion and service units in Germany, The Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Poland. Sales in 2001 amounted to €167M.

The acquisition supplements SCA's corresponding operations in France (through SCA Nicollet) and in several other European units. Its existing German packaging operations include two testliner mills and extensive corrugated box operations.
