SCA launches lighter weight fluting

11 May 2006

The recently rebuilt paper machine at the SCA Packaging Aschaffenburg mill is now producing Herculight, a lower weight fluting designed to provide “the optimum ratio between box strength and paper substance”.

Said to be suitable for presentation packaging, standard boxes or complex die cuts, Herculight also boasts “excellent runnability on all corrugators, from the traditional ones to the latest high speed technologies”.

SCA Containerboard claims the Aschaffenburg rebuild makes it the first large integrated packaging provider to produce fluting in a lower weight range. The 15-year old machine was taken to pieces, extended it by 15m and its speed increased to 1,200m/min. This was carried out with a downtime of only 42 days.
