RTO helps cut carbon footprint

22 April 2010

Sunderland, England, based flexible packaging converter Interflex operates several flexo printing lines whose ink solvent from was removed by a catalytic oxidiser system installed in the 1990’s. Unfortunately the catalyst had degraded on the aging catalytic system, which was costing a lot of money to operate and struggling to achieve the required destruction efficiency…

Spooner Anguil - a partnership between Spooner Industries (UK) and US based Anguil Environmental systems - replaced the catalytic oxidiser with a high efficiency regenerative thermal oxidiser (RTO), which achieves up to 99% destruction efficiency and 95% heat recovery, reducing gas consumption and carbon footprint

The new RTO system has reduced Interflex’s gas bill by more than £100,000/year and cut the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 13 tonne/week.
