In the USA, Rock-Tenn is to acquire the Southern Container Corp in an $851M deal. Southern Container operates the 720,000ton/year Solvay mill near Syracuse, NY – said to be one of the lowest cost recycled containerboard mills in North America. It also has eight integrated corrugated box plants, two sheet plants, and four high impact graphics facilities. Rock-Tenn expects to close the acquisition by the end of March.
