Rigid racks up capacity

17 October 2006

Increased demand for its corrugated cases has led Rigid Corrugated to invest in another case maker for its Selby plant. The new machine, a Langston Saturn, is expected to increase the plant’s capacity by nearly 20 per cent. Equipped with an automatic prefeeder, the high speed machine prints one colour and will produce Rigid’s standard transit cases.

Commissioned last year, Rigid’s new Selby manufacturing facility provides improved hygiene and quality standards with reduced lead times, all backed by an advanced supply chain operation able to deliver a next day or same day service. The company’s other site is at Desborough.

Rigid is part of the VPK Packaging Group, with operating plants in the UK, Belgium, Holland, France and Poland.
