At LabelExpo Americas 2004, (September 13-16), on booth 2026, Appleton will introduce SmartStrate - claimed to be the first labelstock specifically engineered for RFID smart labels. This new product is designed to overcome chip inlay failures associated with mechanical damage and electrostatic discharge at multiple points in the value chain, from converting, printing and shipping, to application and end use. In addition, its cushioning properties are said to overcome issues related to printing on label facestock made uneven by the inlay edge and chip bump.
Also new will be security products featuring machine readable taggants that provide immediate authenticity by an instant audible beep when unique, non visual characteristics are found.
