RFID conference

21 January 2005

The 2nd annual UK EPCglobal Conference and Exhibition – examining RFID's growing supply chain adoption by top global brand owners, retailers and product manufacturers in sectors ranging from FMCG to pharmaceuticals – will be held in London on June 7. The event will be staged by the e.centre, UK provider of the EPCglobal network, in association with RFID Solutions, Europe's only dedicated RFID publication.

RFID Solutions, published by Wilmington Media, is a sister magazine of Converting Today, which is a Media Partner to the event.

EPCglobal is the worldwide body responsible for implementing an RFID system based around Electronic Product Code technology, and it is hoped a senior government minister will attend as a keynote speaker.

Following EPCglobal's recent approval of the royalty-free UHF Class 1, Generation 2 RFID candidate specification, a step which many believe eliminates one of the few remaining barriers to widespread adoption, the conference will focus heavily on the likely impact that ratification of both the EPC standard and the European frequency standard will have on the pace and breadth of adoption.

High level speakers from EPCglobal, leading retailers, brand owners and consultants, and acknowledged industry experts will discuss what these developments mean for users.

Delegates will also be able to attend optional workshops examining, through case studies and personal experience, how RFID is being implemented in the packaging and manufacturing, retailing and warehousing and distribution spheres.

The conference has also been structured to provide a number of networking opportunities throughout the day, offering an opportunity to discuss key issues and concerns with representatives of some of the world's top RFID pioneers. Alongside the conference, an exhibition will feature hardware and software suppliers, supply chain specialists and consultants.
