Returnable Packaging can be Refurbished to Its Original State While By-Passing Remanufacturing

16 April 2019

True circular economy is about being able to re-circulate products and preserving or delaying the use of raw materials and energy.

DS Smith Plastics, Extruded Products in Hurbanovo, Slovakia now offers a service to restore old containers to its original form. The refurbishing service is being offered to all industries for containers made with steel frames and/or extruded polypropylene plastics.

Restoring old returnable packaging is a sustainable and cost-effective way to extend product’s useful life while by-passing the cost associated with recycling and re-manufacturing.

The new offer can save customers up to 50% of the cost of a new container and its useful life expectancy is the same as when manufactured for the first time.

The ability of DS Smith Plastics to restore AkyPak returnable containers to their original state doubling their lifespan emphasises the business commitment to the environment and circular economy.
