Refurbisher relocates

23 February 2005

UK supplier of used Xeikon, Indigo and Heidelberg digital press the Digital People is moving from its current Coulsdon base to a new 9,500ft2 site on the Carcroft Enterprise Estate, Doncaster. Whilst the new site will house all re-manufacturing and refurbishment of equipment, the company will also have a southern sales office at Chessington.

The move coincides with the appointment of David Knowles as group managing director. He will take over the day-to-day running of the business from founder Jerry Widdowson, who will adopt the position of group chairman.

"There is a significant market for used digital equipment in the UK," observes David Knowles. "Printing businesses can see the benefits of equipping themselves with a digital press, but often want to test the market first. The cost effective route is to buy into one of our re-manufactured machines – they get all of the technology and the print quality for significantly less money than buying a brand new machine."
