Recycled semi-gloss papers are a PSA ‘first’

17 March 2010

Mactac’s new Velvet EF and Maccoat EF semi-gloss papers are made of 60% recycled fibres (FCS certified) and 40% virgin fibres (FSC certified).

By using them, the company states, converters will help to save natural resources, as the paper manufacturing process requires 35% less water, 20% less electricity and reduces the CO2 emission level by 20% (Carbon footprint calculation made by the Carbon Neutral Co).

Velvet EF and MAaccoat EF are said to offer the same whiteness and mechanical properties as the standard Velvet and Maccoat qualities and can be printed by all printing techniques. They also comply with the 1935/2004 European norm on food products and anticipate the new European legislation identifying the content of recycled components and CO2 emission level of each fast moving consumer goods packaging.

Both of the new papares are coated with the water based MP 196 adhesive.
