Recycled polymer gets a boost

2 December 2002

Dolci's new Extruboost extrusion system has been engineered to produce blown film from up to 100 per cent of regenerated PE granulates. In addition to "perfect mixing" of even low quality polymers, the design of the variable feeding screw is said to ensure an energy saving of up to 30 per cent - allowing a significant cost reduction per kilo produced.

During two recent 'open house' weeks at the company's factory, a number of customers brought their own recycled granulates for extrusion. The Extruboost is said to have accepted virtually all kinds of polymer without a problem, "producing even, excellent thin films" for refuse bags at 80m/min, for a rate of production exceeding 280kg/hour.

With only a change in the die diameter, the line can also produce HDPE, in this case using a high percentage of recycled product.
