Recycled paper plant

Mondi has invested €350 million in a new lightweight recycled containerboard paper machine in Swiecie, Poland. Combined with a new state-of-the art box plant, the ECO7 machine enables the company to meet the fast-growing demand for lightweight paper in Central Europe.

Maciej Kunda, CEO of Mondi Swiecie, states: “Successful trials for 80g/m2 paper were run in November and the most recent four-month production run has already exceeded our planned start-up curve. Our new lightweight recycled paper has been well received by our customers and they are impressed by its excellent runnability and other distinctive characteristics, including constant technological parameters and profiles, improved printability, and increased speed and capacity.”

The advanced technology of the ECO7 machine is said to achieves maximum product quality with minimum environmental impact. Production of one tonne of paper will consume 20% less steam, 30% less electricity and 40% less water than comparable machines. When it reaches full capacity, the mill?s total recycled paper consumption will increase to around 900,000 tonne/year.

Mondi Swiecie has established a new ordering system which enables it to deliver standard widths and grades according to customers' forecasts within 48 hours in Poland and neigbouring countries.
