Recycled film for labels

14 January 2009

A new transparent self-adhesive film labelstock from Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe is said to be the first recycled film facestock to come to the label market, and, according to Henrik Kajueter, Avery Dennison VP, marketing: 'It delivers sustainability without compromising on-press performance or label aesthetics'.

Made from a minimum of 80 per cent post-consumer waste PET, the new 50 micron Fasson R-PET50 Clear film comes with a choice of adhesives: Fasson S692N for all-round performance, and, for extra clarity and tack, Fasson S4700. Both adhesives comply with international food labelling regulations. Completing the laminate is Fasson BG42 White glassine release liner, with no imprint.

Adds Henrik Kajueter: “This new thin film is a real bonus for brand owners and label converters who are committed to sustainability. We expect it to quickly take market share in high volume markets such as food and personal care products — particularly as this recycled material can deliver the same quality of print results as virgin PET.”
