Rapida raises stakes with in-line finishing

15 February 2006

CD Cartondruck has installed a KBA B1 offset press at its US production plant in Fairview, New Jersey. A long Rapida 105 universal model complete with in-line finishing, it has eleven units – eight colours followed by a coater, dryer, a ninth printing unit and a double delivery extension – and is mounted on a plinth to increase pile capacity. Features include a CX carton package, film and hybrid printing capabilities, semi automatic plate changing, automated pile logistics at the feeder, and a non stop roller plus air cleaning system at the delivery.

CD Cartondruck will use the press to grab a bigger share of the US market by offering more unusual finishing options. For example, the ninth printing unit that follows the dryer can be used to apply a fine matt coating or an additional colour to the coated sheets.
