Raising resin capacity

9 June 2009

Eastman Chemical has completed the first of several upgrades of its hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin facility in Middelburg, The Netherlands, which will increase its current capacity by more than 30 per cent by the end of 2009.

"Around the world, demand for our Regalite hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins continues to increase," explains Brad Lich, vice-president and general manager of Eastman's coatings, adhesives, specialty polymers and inks business. "This investment is an important next step in the globalisation of the Regalite product line and allows us to serve customers not only in Europe, but in other regions of the world as well."

The Middelburg tackifier resin plant is one of the world’s largest, producing a range of rosin and hydrocarbon resins and dispersions. Regalite resins have been produced since 1985, and are used extensively in hotmelt adhesives, polymer compounds and plastics modifications.
