Römer raises its ink dispensing

16 February 2007

German label converter Römer Etikett is the first customer to install the new Solaris Colorsat ink dispensing system developed in a partnership between Sun Chemical and GSE Dispensing. In the first three months after its installation, the Marburg based company is said to have improved its ink room productivity, and the ink mix colour consistency and quality.

Managing director Alexander Römer notes: “We blend up to 70 different colours per month on average - accurately producing a large variety of special colours in small amounts is absolutely vital. Brand owners want the same consistency today as they did six months ago – and this ink dispensing system enables that to happen. We have had a 30 per cent improvement in ink room set-up costs.”

Anne Lourens, managing director of GSE Dispensing, adds: “Römer is expecting a return on investment of as little as 18 months, which will be achieved by raising quality levels and dramatically driving the cost out of the supply chain by using return inks”.
