Quality food-friendly print

Comexi underlined the environmental and commercial benefits offered to retailers by the use of energy-curable, electron beam (EB) inks for flexible packaging in the food and beverage markets, as it unveiled its new F4 FlexoEfficiency press at the company¹s Spanish headquarters in June.

Comexi¹s latest EB flexo press is considered value for money and user friendly for short-run, flexible food packaging, shrink sleeve labels, wrap around labels and in-mould labels on rigid containers.

The EB flexo ink process is totally free from VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and said to achieve an excellent print quality up to the standard of UV inks.

EB inks enjoy increasing interest with brand owners because they are food compliant by nature, they have high rub and chemical resistance, and the high gloss results create shelf appeal, says Comexi.

A typical job length will be less than 10,000m2 using standard film structures such as PE, PP, laminates and foil, and print repeat from 240mm to 600mm.

Comexi¹s three-day open house in Girona was run with inks supplier Sun Chemical and ESI (Energy Sciences Inc.), developer of EZCure technology, aimed at customers and prospective users from around the world.
