PSI boosts slitting capabilities

15 October 2013

US manufacturer and distributor of bio- and petrochemical-based films PSI has installed three new Kampf high speed slitters to meet increasing demand in its converting and distribution business. Two of the machines are located in PSI's Columbus, Ohio, distribution centre and the third is in the company's facility in Ghent, Belgium.

"These slitters are a key component of our growth strategy, allowing us to shorten lead times while converting better rolls of film at lower cost," says PSI CEO George Thomas. "In Belgium, where PSI is Dow Chemical's exclusive Northern European distributor of Procite window films, the new slitters will improve order turnarounds because they require 20% less direct labour than older slitters."

"These rapid change-over slitters will replace 10 of our older slitters while lowering manufacturing costs and driving down waste and scrap," adds Erich Emhuff, vice president of operations for PSI.
