PSA production progress in Asia

24 May 2004

Surface Specialties UCB is to begin production of acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives in Thailand as part of its on-going growth strategy in Asia. The Brussels based business has acquired the Rayong Emulsion plant previously operated by Clariant Chemicals (Thailand).

Surface Specialties UCB already operates a resins plant on the 150,000m2 site, producing powder and acrylic resins for coatings and unsaturated polyester resins for a variety of uses. The new investment is expected to spearhead further expansion of PSA activity in the region, including China.

Production at Rayong will centre on both water and solvent borne Gelva, Solucryl and Ucecryl adhesives and is expected to be fully under way by the end of 2004.
