The finalists for the Pro Carton/ ECMA Awards 2013 have been announced, with the category winners to be revealed on Thursday 19 September at the 46th annual ECMA Congress in Dubrovnik.
According to the Pro Carton/ ECMA Awards organisers, the competition received an unprecedented level of entries this year: more than 100 from 49 companies in 11 countries, with nearly a third of those new companies taking part for the first time.
The competition judges were impressed this year with the numerous coherent concepts for the point of sale.
Chairman of the jury, Satkar Gidda, said: “We saw total integrated thinking such as carrying the product characteristics through onto the packaging, which serves perfectly to help communicate the brand values and brand qualities.
“It demonstrated thinking beyond just packaging of a product. It’s this level of holistic branding that really shows what cartons can do for brands.”

Following the announcement of the results, the packaging award winners and the finalists will again tour as part of a road show to various trade fairs and events throughout Europe, and in 2014 they will be presented at the Interpack show in Düsseldorf, Germany.
