PrintChecker improves quality of inspections

18 September 2013

The increasing requirement for track-and-trace has led Kohmann to launch the PrintChecker off-line print inspection system for both unglued and glued carton blanks.

Able to run in either single or twin-stream mode, the PrintChecker allows high speed total inspection of the surface of folding cartons and other printed media. It uses vacuum transport belts instead of upper transport belts that would restrict the view of the camera, and the carton is in complete control for precise reading.

Differences in colours, printing and foil stamping, as well as spots and typing errors, compared with a scanned master will be recognised and ejected or collected for further inspection. This makes the PrintChecker ideal for the control of packaging material for the pharmaceutical, tobacco and cosmetics industries, as well as for high quality food packaging. Kohmann says the new system has already created a good deal of interest from many carton manufacturers in these markets.

Other applications and processes the PrintChecker is said to be suitable for include digital Braille printing, inkjet, labelling and label inspection.
