16 October 2008

At Graph Expo, to be held in Chicago this month, US based manufacturer, Presstek will showcase its Compass Series platesetters, which debuted at drupa this year. The series includes the Compass 4000 Series, 4-up platesetters and the Compass 8000 Series, 8-up platesetters.

The platesetters, which image up to 250 lpi, are offered for use with Presstek’s new Aurora Pro chemistry-free plates. The platesetters are also capable of imaging a range of low energy (830 nm laser) third party thermal plates. Aurora Pro daylight-safe plates are rated up to 25,000 and require only water wash prior to mounting. These plates are said to have strong resistance to UV inks and solvents. They can be imaged at a resolution of 1 to 99 per cent dots at 200 lpi and stochastic (FM) screening.
