Since the launch of its re-designed 2200 narrow web press with servo technology in late 2007, Mark Andy has sold more than 25 - five in India and Poland, and the remainder in Asia, Western Europe and the Americas.
Each section of the press is independently servo driven (shaftless) from infeed to rewind, including the print and converting stations. According to Mark Andy, with fewer gears involved, both vibration and noise are reduced, as is general wear and tear. Reduced material waste and lower maintenance costs are said to provide a rapid return on investment. The servo design also guarantees higher print quality, enhanced productivity and increased profitability, it is claimed.
Of particular interest is the 2200’s new capability with filmic substrates. The ability to run BOPP down to 25 micron opens new applications for self adhesive label converters.
The updated 2200 series is available with 254, 330, or 532mm web widths and has a top speed of 230m/min. In addition to its UV capability, it may also be specified for water based inks, screen printing and hot or coldfoil. In addition, the film capability may be retrofitted at any time.
Optional features include fully automatic register control for higher print quality and remote diagnostics, allowing for direct access to Mark Andy technical support.
