A high performance machine for laminating and colour lacquering of aluminium and paper, as well as for pre and post lacquering of paper for subsequent metallization has been supplied by Polytype Converting to Vaassen Flexible Packaging, in The Netherlands.

The machine consists of two automatic unwind stands, three coating heads with different coating methods, turner bars to turn over the web, two hot air flotation dryers, cooling and conditioning equipment, an automatic rewind stand, and drive and control equipment that includes an advanced Human-Machine-Interface. Other features are seven different web paths, systems for quick cleaning/washing of the coating heads, and additional technical innovations said to allow production changes “within a record time”.

The full line was handed over to production from contract signature within a stated record time of 10 months. Also claimed is “perfect control and reliability” of the automatic reel change, including the splice process for thin aluminium foil of 6.3 micron at a speed of 800m/min.
