Poles pick quick change treaters

15 November 2005

Two sets of custom designed corona treatment equipment have been supplied by Vetaphone to Drukpol, one of Poland's largest producers of packaging materials. The TOU9 treater stations are fitted with eight ceramic electrodes to treat both electrically conductive and non conductive substrates. They are said to give optimum surface adhesion on all types of plastics, paper and metal.

Drukpol technical director Hubert Orowiecki explains: "We were in need of new corona treaters for both our Uteco lines. We choose Vetaphone because of the Quick Change possibility: we can perform maintenance without the use of tools, just by pulling out the complete electrode cartridge."

The corona electrode is mounted in a pull-out/push-in cartridge. This enables quick and easy cleaning and changing of the complete set of electrodes, "in a matter of seconds", without the use of tools. Each electrode can be adjusted and dismantled separately, for minimal downtime, reduced maintenance costs and increased productivity.

The Vetaphone stations are also equipped with an extended shaft for the use of a motor synchronized backing roller, said to match the speed of the Uteco lines with 99.9 per cent accuracy.
