Petfood packaging goes paperless

24 December 2004

Cranswick Pet Products is converting its range of 60 different products from paper sacks to Paperfeel, a specialist three-layer PE film. Marketing manager Sam Marriage says: "Nature's Feast Wild Bird Food, one of our flagship products, is the first to be produced in a Paperfeel sack and we are very impressed with the results. The move has enabled us to incorporate a clear window in the packaging so that customers can view the contents, and a Ziplock fastening in the top of the sack to keep the bird food fresh even after opening. The Paperfeel film has a good print surface to provide a sharp image on the packaging which is important to hold the new branding."

Paperfeel is used to create a range of packaging from sacks to labels, magazine wraps and products for the food and drink industry. The layers can be different colours and textures, laminates may be applied externally to protect print, and barriers incorporated to exclude odours or moisture.
