PCMC to downgrade Plymouth plant

27 August 2002

PCMC has announced the closure of new machinery manufacturing at its Plymouth, UK, factory.

Rick Baer, president and ceo of the US based company, states,"The discontinuation of manufacturing will be a phased programme affecting approximately 200 employees and concluding in the second quarter of 2003.PCMC will complete the orders on hand, on schedule.

"Our colleagues in the UK have made a tremendous contribution to the success of our company. However, I am convinced that the actions we are taking will strengthen our global financial performance and allow us to continue to be a strong supplier of converting equipment both now and in the future."

The Plymouth facility will continue as a sales and customer service operation.
