US converting equipment manufacturer PCMC is to lay-off up to 212 employees at its Green Bay, facility. According to president/ceo Frederick W Baer, "The layoff is the result of two factors. First, a restructur-ing by PCMC to move work from its Ashland Avenue facility to lower cost sites, both its other operating sites in Green Bay and to sources external to the company. The second is the slowing of incoming orders for new machinery.
"Although unpleasant and regrettable," he continues, "the workforce restructuring is being undertaken to assure PCMC's abilities to offer competitive solutions for our customers and sustained profitable operations."
