Payne picks Titan

8 December 2005

Manufacturer of encapsulation and lamination film for the print finishing industry Payne has installed a Titan SR8 cantilever slitter from Bobst at its Banbury, UK, site. The 1,650mm wide machine runs at up to 600m/min and with short set-up times will enable the company to offer improved lead times and "unprecedented order turnaround". It will process the full range of Payne's coated film and security products on both 2 and 3in cores, in addition to self adhesive films, labelstock and other plain films.

"We chose the SR8 because of its versatility and capability to substantially increase productivity whilst improving product quality and reducing lead times," says Mark Palmer, managing director of Payne Coated Film.

Automatic knife setting and semi automated slit reel unloading will help to reduce lead times, while the latest digital drives are said to provide superior tension control to maintain wind quality. A thread path roll change system enables quick and easy change-over of roller types.
