Payne makes film coatings thinner

16 June 2006

Payne reports an important breakthrough in its extrusion coating capability enables production of extremely thin layers, enhancing its ability to create bespoke multi layered coated films for unusual applications.

The Banbury, UK, company has been working on a number of development projects for niche industrial applications that required the production of thin extrusion coated layers to ensure that the final multi layer film product met “challenging” thickness requirements.

Payne has combined its extensive knowledge of coated film and complementary web handling expertise with that of its raw material suppliers to achieve coating thicknesses as low as six micron on a coating line originally specified to coat no less than 20 micron. It is developing the technology further to support advances in multi layer films for industrial applications.
