Partnership to promote PLA

28 April 2006

The Treofan Group has entered into an agreement with NatureWorks to market its Biophan biologically degradable film, which is made of polylactic acid PLA and said to offer a combination of characteristics that are ideal for applications such as food, cosmetics and office materials.

The co-operation is expected to boost use of Biophan by food, cosmetics and office material producers this year. “Extraordinary” gloss and transparency, printability and good sealing characteristics are claimed to make it an excellent packaging film. In an industrial composting plant, Biophan is said to be completely transformed into carbon dioxide and water within 45 days.
