Packaging Innovations 2014 offers new features for visitors

9 December 2013

Visitors to the 26-27 February 2014 Packaging Innovations and co-located events at the UK’s Birmingham NEC venue will be able to experience business innovations at three new features.

Firstly, Packaging Innovations show visitors will be able to witness 3D printing in action at live demonstrations.

“The 3D Print feature will enable designers, engineers and educators to test and perfect their work with 3D modelling,” the show’s organisers easyFairs say.

“The 3D printers build in real ABSplus thermoplastic, resulting in models and functional prototypes that are durable, stable and accurate.

“Evaluate form, fit and function in everything from ergonomics to manufacturing processes – right from your desktop.”

Secondly, Campden BRI research organisation will be focusing on its eye-tracking system, with visitors able to try out the software for themselves and see how it can help to develop a strategy for POS, pack design and product positioning.

“A visit to the Campden BRI feature can help you better understand what drivers are behind the consumers spending behaviour and store navigation,” easyFairs says.

Campden BRI claims eye-tracking will reveal “what consumers really think”, and whether what they say they do is really what they actually do.

The third new feature at Packaging Innovations 2014 will be the Recoup Clinic – run by the independent, not-for-profit organisation Recoup, offering free one-to-one sessions to look into plastics and packaging recycling issues.

“Effective and practical recycling does not happen without all parts of the supply chain working together,” Recoup says.

“Those companies who seek to better understand and embrace recycling and recyclability as a key strand of their business activity, will have an advantage.”
